What's happening?

Wediko Children’s Services is an organization which aims to improve the lives of children with complex psychiatric, emotional, and behavioral difficulties who face repeated obstacles to development. Wediko provides a range of services and programs throughout Boston and greater New England which focuses on a partnership with children, families, schools, and the community in order to integrate and restore hope for each child. Each program is unique and tailored to specific needs of the child and includes a summer residential program, in-school programs as well as at-home help for families and children.

I worked at the residential summer program in 2014, and I witnessed how this program changed lives of the children it served and also how it changed my own life. The word “Ubuntu” is used throughout the residential program, and, when put into practice, far transcends the translation of “A person is a person through other people”. This philosophy of respect, acceptance and accountability allows Wediko to guide young individuals through their difficulties and discover a self that is independent, assertive, and confident in ways that serve and sustain their community.

I am running the Boston Marathon in order to support this organization as they tirelessly give back to the communities they serve. I am asking for your help in raising $7,500 in my journey towards the Marathon, so that Wediko will be able to continue to provide care for these children and families that will help create and sustain safe, healthy and resilient communities.
