BPM Masterclass Series - Brass

What's happening?

Bristol Plays Music are delighted to announce details of this year’s masterclass series, run in partnership with Bristol Cathedral Choir School. Throughout 2017/18, some of the UK’s finest classical musicians will be visiting Bristol to deliver six very special recital-masterclasses. These events give students in Bristol the chance to meet, listen to, and learn from musicians at the forefront of their profession.

Tim Thorpe (Horn) & Claire Alsop (Accompanist)

Tim Thorpe is Principal Horn of the BBC National Orchestra of Wales and formerly 3rd Horn of the Philharmonia Orchestra. He is one of the most accomplished Horn players of his generation and alongside his work with the BBC NOW appears as a guest principal, chamber musician, and soloist with some of the country’s finest ensembles. He currently teaches at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, and can be seen on the original BBC 10 Pieces project performing the final movement of Mozart’s 4th Horn Concerto.

Each event takes place in the Cresswell Theatre at BCCS and starts at 5.30pm, with a short informal recital from the visiting artists. This is followed by an open masterclass until 8pm, in which advanced students perform and receive coaching (everyone is encouraged to watch). £3 entry, £10 if performing in the masterclass.
