Ayurveda is traditionally translated as the science of life. It is an at least 5,000 year old system of preventative medicine that incorporates simple lifestyle changes and sophisticated herbal remedies to promote health and well being. It is the sister science of yoga and Kundalini yoga incorporates many Ayurvedic lifestyle recommendations. Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan is quite unique among other types of yoga in that many of the thousands of yoga sets and meditations are specifically designated as being beneficial to one or more organ systems. Together, these two systems give us amazingly effective, non-pharmacological interventions to effectively promote health and well-being and to address common health conditions.

Guru Karam (Laura) Benton is one of the founders of Yoga Yoga and is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse with prescriptive power and professional training in Ayurveda. As a long time yoga practitioner and teacher, she has been interested in Ayurveda for over 20 years. After working as a mid-level medical provider in a busy practice, she decided that the best way to help people become healthy, happy and in control of their health was to pursue formal training in Ayurveda. In addition, she practices clinical hypnosis to help people make the changes in their lives that support a healthy lifestyle.
